Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Aegis Eternal you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
2. The Service
Aegis Eternal provides cryptographic document protection through patent-pending multi-layer obfuscation, splicing, and distributed storage.
3. CRITICAL: Lost-key irrecoverability
For files saved under user_code or no_trail storage modes, the encryption parameters are not retrievable by us. If you forget your passphrase or lose your transcription string, your file is permanently and irrecoverably lost. We cannot help you recover it. This is a feature, not a bug — it's the only way to guarantee that no party (including us, or anyone who legally compels us) can access your data.
4. Acceptable Use
You may not use Aegis Eternal to store or distribute illegal content, including but not limited to: child sexual abuse material, content infringing copyright, content facilitating violence, or content prohibited by your local jurisdiction. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms upon notice.
5. Export Control
Aegis Eternal employs strong cryptography. By using the service you certify that you are not in a country subject to US export sanctions and are not on any restricted-party list.
6. Service Changes
We may modify or discontinue the service with reasonable notice. Stored data will be exportable for at least 60 days after any service shutdown.
7. Limitation of Liability
Aegis Eternal is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and limit our liability to the amount paid by you in the preceding 12 months.
8. Patent
The protection methods used by Aegis Eternal are subject to a patent application filed April 20, 2026 (Clint Adam Goolsby, Inventor). Use of the service grants you a personal, non-transferable license to access the protection. Reverse-engineering, reproducing, or commercially deploying the underlying methods without a separate license is prohibited.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the State of [TBD].

11. Emergency Services & Pay-as-Used Distress Features
The Distress, Trusted-Contact Alert, and Live-Stream-to-Authorities features may incur per-incident costs (voice minutes to emergency services, SMS notifications, evidence-vault storage, dispatch relay fees). Aegis Eternal will attempt to provide these features regardless of your current payment status — emergency access is never gated on a valid payment method.
You agree that:
- (a) Aegis Eternal may charge your payment method on file for actual incurred costs at the rates published at aegiseternal.net/pricing.
- (b) If your payment method fails or is unavailable, you remain responsible for incurred costs and will be invoiced via the email address on your account, payable within 30 days.
- (c) Aegis Eternal may suspend non-emergency features (uploads, sharing, signing) if invoices remain unpaid after 60 days. Emergency features (Distress, Trusted-Contact Alert) remain available regardless of payment status, subject to per-user annual cost ceilings published at aegiseternal.net/pricing.
- (d) Per-incident cost ceiling: $25. Annual per-user cost ceiling: $500. Beyond these limits, emergency features fall back to free Trusted-Contact notification only until the ceiling resets or is manually raised.
- (e) Aegis Eternal is not a substitute for direct emergency services and cannot guarantee response times or dispatch outcomes. Always contact local emergency services directly (911 in US) when possible.
12. Optional Account-Safety Features
Aegis Eternal supports optional account-safety features including alternate-content pools and auxiliary credentials that route sessions to alternate views of your data. These features are intended for personal safety and anti-coercion use cases. By using them you acknowledge that:
- (a) Any content you upload to alternate pools is YOUR responsibility — Aegis Eternal does not generate it for you (except auto-generation modes you explicitly enable).
- (b) Use of these features to obstruct lawful investigations may be illegal in your jurisdiction. Aegis Eternal provides the technology; legal use is your responsibility.
- (c) These features may be unavailable in jurisdictions where their use violates local law.
